OAK Aspire works with parents in communities of color to expand school choice and educational opportunities for every Minnesota student. OAK Aspire has enlisted the support of hundreds of African-American, Latino and New American parents to help advance school choice.
Minnesota has the worst achievement gap in the nation between white and students of color. Graduation rates for Latino students ranks 49th in the nation and 50th for Black students. ACT college readiness shows that while 84% of Minnesota’s white students are college ready, only 55% of Latinos and 39% of Black students are college ready.
The need to provide better education options for students in Minnesota is critical and urgent.
