The Washington Post recently released a poll asking families why they chose to homeschool. The results show that safety concerns–about bullying, school shootings, and violence in general–top the list as the main reason parents are pulling their kids out of public school.
When specifically asked about bullying concerns motivating a family’s decision to homeschool, 58% of survey participants said yes.
That’s not hard to see given videos like the following incident which happened at an Oregon middle school. In fact, given evidence such as this, it’s hard to see why more parents are not marching into district schools and pulling their children out immediately.
What’s happened that such vicious behavior as this occurs in school hallways? What’s happened in our schools if students won’t even come to the defense of a student who is attacked like this?
And finally, if you have students in public school, are you worried incidents like this will happen to them?
